PALM SPRINGS: Greater Palm Springs Pride has announced the first headliners for its 40th anniversary celebration: recording artist and television personality Aubrey O'Day and country supergroup The Cowgays. The organization made the announcement October 2, with additional performers promised in the coming weeks.

The 40th annual Palm Springs Pride celebration, carrying the theme "Be Included," takes place November 6-8 in downtown Palm Springs and the Arenas District. The weekend features live music, drag entertainment, DJs and special performances across three stages, plus a week of events running October 31 through November 8.

The headliners

O'Day has local roots: she is a La Quinta High School graduate. She rose to prominence as a founding member of the multi-platinum pop group Danity Kane, formed on MTV's Making the Band, whose first two albums debuted consecutively at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She later co-founded the alternative dance-pop duo dumblonde and has built a career spanning music, television, Broadway, performance and creative direction.

The 40th anniversary brings a pop star with local roots and a Nashville country trio to the Pride stages.

The Cowgays are a Nashville-based trio made up of Adam Mac, Brooke Eden and Chris Housman. The group brings three-part harmonies, musicianship, humor and theatricality to its live shows, reimagining the country music they grew up on through a proudly queer lens.

The organization said in its announcement that more performers will be named soon, including regional favorites, emerging artists, and talent from across and beyond the LGBTQ+ community.

The weekend

Palm Springs Pride has run since 1986 and has grown into the region's largest annual LGBTQ+ gathering. This year's celebration closes with the annual parade on Sunday, November 8, stepping off at 10 a.m. along Palm Canyon Drive.

The milestone year leans on that history: organizers say the 40th anniversary will honor the different generations, identities and communities that have shaped the desert's LGBTQ+ life. Full event details and the entertainment schedule are available at pspride.org.
